Carnival Cruise Lines Sued by Triumph Vacationer

Carnival Cruise Lines is facing another lawsuit relating to the infamous disaster cruise aboard its luxury cruise liner, the Triumph. The plaintiff, Lisa Williams, 42, claims she suffered severe dehydration and bruising from “aggressive food lines” while vacationing on the cruise ship.

The allegations stem from the power shortage which left the Triumph stranded, without adequate food or proper sanitation, for a total of ten days in the Gulf of Mexico. Passengers were forced from their rooms and onto sun decks to avoid sewage which was overflowing from sinks and toilets into the hallways. Meanwhile, food shortages were so serious that passengers were forced to stand in aggressive food lines sometimes lasting more than three hours.

The lawsuit was filed in Miami federal court on February 17, and alleges that Carnival failed to “inspect for and to observe and resolve the hazard present within the vessel that ultimately affected all passengers on board, including the Plaintiff. Plaintiff has been exposed to extremely toxic and debilitating conditions resulting in severe and permanent injuries.”

This is just one of four major problems involving Carnival Cruise Lines in the last month. Most recently, on March 17, 2013, the Carnival Legend experienced problems with its propulsion system which hampered its sailing speed and resulted in the cancellation of a scheduled stop.
