Credit Card Machine Leaves Footwear Giant With Personal Injury Lawsuit
by: Akinyemi Ajayi
A lawsuit is being filed by a Pennsylvania couple, alleging personal injuries from a purchase at a Finish Line retail store at the Franklin Mills Mall in northeast Philadelphia. The lawsuit claims that while the couple completed their shoe purchase, the credit card scanner fell off its stand and crushed the female plaintiff’s left foot.
The couple claims that the store was negligent and careless for allowing a piece of equipment used in the regular course of business to be set up in that manner, withoutproper warning or safeguards put into place, knowing that customers would be exposed to the risk of harm.
The injured woman suffered extensive injuries to her left foot and toes, including nerve damage that requires medical and rehabilitative treatment. As a result of medical expenditures, economic losses, pain, and suffering, the couple is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 to compensate them for their losses.
